Films

Okay so if you guys really know me then you know that with my love for music and partying comes with a love for films and filming my own movies. I have had the opportunity to create two short films due to one of my college courses and at the end of this post I will leave the only good one for you guys to watch. This film took me months of planning, filming and editing and its only like 6 minutes long but I really did try my best. Everything in the film was made by me including any animation or effects.


The reason why I love creating films is because I enjoy seeing my ideas come to life. I have ideas in my head and so actually seeing them is a great feeling and also seeing other enjoying them is also pretty great. So if you haven't seen my film before or even if you have then give it a watch and let me know what you think about it. This was done last year but is way better than my most recent film and that's why I'm not showing you that one.


So on the music side of things I am almost ready for Saturday, hopefully it will all go well and I cant wait to play for a larger crowd, if your gonna be there then don't forget to let me know if you want any tracks played. I'll do my best to get em all in but I am well excited. I bought a new album yesterday too, its pretty awesome, will probably play some tracks from that.

Next Party!

So its just over a week until my next party and I literally cannot wait. I have realised how much I love doing parties and this just reassures me that this whole thing was worth it. So the party coming up is for one of my best mates boyfriend who is also a good friend of mine. He was happy to have me do it but did want a set of lights and therefore I agreed to purchase a set as I needed to get some anyway. So today I went to my local retailer and chose a set I liked and also managed to get a rig from my mate who is also a DJ so the kit is really coming along nicely.


I dont know wether to charge more for the lights for future parties or wether to just put up the price, I guess il decide later and maybe ask some peoples opinions. So I'm currently posting from my best mates house as I'm staying over here for his birthday weekend. He is 18 now like me so these next two nights will basically be me and him getting smashed but I shall say I'm doing some research to get some new music ideas :P


Anyone going tomorrow night better be up on that floor cause I need a good night out and a good dance. This blog belongs to one of my best pals Em. It's basically just about her life and the sometimes crazy going on's. She posts quite a lot sometimes once a day and its quite a good read. I thought id also pick a song that I think represents them the most as I need to relate it to DJing some how :) For Em Ive chosen one of my favourite songs, I'm a dreamer by Livin Joy or Amber. This song is mainly about a woman who cant find the right man but doesn't really care about it so this is perfect for her :)

This is Charlotte's blog and I must say my favourites to read. Like Emma's it's about her life and what happens in it. It does make me laugh sometimes and do enjoy reading it. She was thinking about stopping so you guys should get on and convince her not to. We always take the piss out of Char cause of her Beyonce Butt so my song for her has to be Milkshake by Kelis or Akon, Smack that. Oh wait I forgot Groove Armada, I see you baby. Well one of those :)

So now onto Fay's blog. She has only just started so that's why she doesn't have many posts but I'm sure shel have a few more soon. I like this blog because Fay has a way of looking at things far differently than everyone else so I find it quite interesting to read. The song is a hard choice because there are so many, however ive gone for The Darkness, I believe in a thing called love and no one will understand why apart from us two :)

Vanessa was one of the first people to start blogging and therefore has a lot of posts. Like others she just says what happens in her life. Why her's stands out to me if because she literally writes whatever she thinks including many Ahhhhhh's and ooooooo's etc.I also like the way she puts a new sentence on each line, makes it easy to read :) The song is hard because I dont know her that well. I'd probably go for Call on me by Eric Prydz because I only really talk to her when we all go to the gym!

This is one of my best mates Kieran, he got me started at the gym and has been a massive help with the whole DJ thing. He's lucky to be on here as he hasn't posted since the 16th of March and am a little dissapointed as I enjoyed reading it. It's all about his trips to the gym and what he does there, was very intersting when he does it. The song is so easy, I'm sexy and I know it, LMFAO as we both always seem to dance together to this song, such a tune!

Had to put Alice on here as the name for her blog is clearly the best. Alice also posts about her life and things that happen in it. She also has dedicated an entire post to another girl (lesibian much) which is odd. The song choice is a tough one but i'm gonna for Ed Sheeran, Drunk. Speaks for itself really.

I CAN DRIVE!

So since I passed my test last month have literally tried everything to be able to get a car and drive and due to a little mistake I have three points and so this isn't easy. £5000 quotes for a £500 car is just not gonna happen. Even the mega cheap ones wont touch me cause of points even though I did it on a bike not a car. But that's a whole other topic.


My Aunt recently had the idea of putting me on her insurance, she has a 03 car so doesn't mind me driving it and her insurance was up for renewal recently. So today I went round to hers thinking I was just gonna get a quote and it would ridiculous amounts just like the other places but was pleasantly surprised when they told her it would £530 to add me. I got a little excited and decided to go for it. So rather than going to the gym today on my bike, I rolled up to Kieran's house in a little Ford Fiesta to pick him up. He was surprised.


So yeah i'm pretty happy right now as unless my Aunt has the car, I can drive myself to parties now with all my equipment which looks way more professional and just makes it easier. Anyway just thought id tell you guys some good news and that this whole DJ thing is moving up :) if there anything in particular you think I should talk about :) let me know.

Why Twitter is better than Facebook!

Okay so I realise I may be upsetting some people here but in my opinion since I started my Twitter account a month or so ago I have found myself checking it regular and not going on Facebook for days on end. I mean right now I have this Tab open and one for Twitter but no Facebook. 


Facebook started off well and the very first one was so easy to use, you could make a simple profile and write on walls or post a status and that was basically it, like what Twitter is like now. But over the years Facebook has added so much basically bullshit that no one actually cares about, i mean this voting thing is ridiculous, who cares and what topped me over the edge is this timeline thing. They said at the start it would be optional and people found themselves clicking on join timeline even though they didn't want to which came hundreds of statuses "I hate timeline, shouldn't have clicked it" or "timeline sucks". But then they make it so you have to have timeline now anyway so it clearly is not optional.


Since ive been on Twitter there have been 0 updates and so I can get used to it and I like looking at the Twitter page, it makes me happy how easy it is. Facebook now is so predictable, if Xfactor is on, you don't even need to watch it to know whats happening, just go on Facebook or if someone dies, Facebook will tell you.


I'm your thinking what has this got to do with my DJing and il tell you. When deciding how I was going to do this requesting service I did have two options, Facebook or Twitter and seen as Twitter was so much simpler, I went for Twitter so sorry Facebook, you suck and i'm even considering deleting my account.

Music Style

I know what your all thinking, if I hire this guy that I don't know and trust him with my one and only 18th or whatever party, what says he'll play what I want? In this post i'm gonna be explaining a little about what I play and also the sort of stuff I like listening too, which are different.


So what sort of stuff do I play? it is hard to put an exact genre of music but club and party music would probably best describe it. I would personally say that this style of music is definetly best for parties, it helps the drinks go down ;) and gets everyone on the floor. It is the biggest compliment to see people enjoying your music and that's one of the reasons I do it to give people a good night. Sorry to anyone that hates these artists but my favourite three to play have got to be LMFAO, David Guetta and Rihanna. They sum up what music I play and I'm Sexy and I Know It is my favourite song to play and to party to.


What is great about hiring me is I will play any music you ask for and I can guarantee that i'l have the track you want. You can ask me or Tweet me and anything you ask for i'l probably play although it may not be straight away it probably will come on sometime during the night. If your unsure still about my style you can always write me a list of music you don't like or that you like and i'l play it for sure. At the end of the day it's your party so the music you want should be played but if your not that fussy then I think that the music I play will be perfect for a banging party.


Now onto the music I like listening too which is different to the stuff i'd play. In fact lots of people who have asked me to do there party have said I like listening to X music but wouldn't want it played at a party as it isn't the right stuff. I enjoy listening to indie rock or funk rock. My top 3 bands have got to be Red Hot Chili Peppers and were lucky enough to see them live in November at the 02, best night of my life; The wombats who I've seen twice, there also amazing live and Bloc Party who i'd love to see live but they keep dicking around and cant make up there minds if there together or not but if the opportunity came up I would be there.

My Set Up!

As promised this is a post about my entire set up and exactly what I use. Almost like a review on all the equipment and prices that I got it for. If you have any questions about anything then comment below and i'll get back to you.

Numark CD1

So this is my mixer or in other words how the music is played. I must say this is my favourite piece of equipment and not only because it has the most buttons. I do really love my mixer mainly because I can do a lot with it. When I first got it like any new piece of equipment it does look daunting and if you've ever seen my mixer then you'll know what I mean. But once you get to know it, its pretty good. It has two channels and two inputs in them channels. So what i use is a CD or iPod/laptop for each channel and there is a button on the display that lets me switch between the two. There is a cross fader in the middle that lets me change between the two channels. Without this the change between one song to the other would sound awful.

One of my favourite parts of the mixer and the individual tempo, middle and bass dials. This lets me change the levels for tempo, middle and bass and for anyone who doesn't know what that is, basically makes the voice sound better when singing/rapping and the bass sound better when there is bass. Another great feature is the headphone section. Headphones can be plugged in and you can choose which channel you want to listen to which makes choosing the next track very simple and also will cut down on errors as they are inevitable.

Amplifier

For anyone who doesn't really know much about music, you cant play it through speaker without a medium for it to go through, this could be an amp in my case or a high fi or even the tower of your computer. So I had to buy an amp. The amp limits your volume and if you go too loud then you blow the amp and seen as mine isn't great I cant go to loud. But otherwise it's pretty easy to use, it has a fan so I can go all night. Oh yeah! Anyway it's light too so easy to transport.

Speakers

I have two box speakers and although there not a known make, they are cheap and pretty good so I cant complain, not really much to say about the speakers but there light and very easy to carry around.

So now about pricing. I looked around everywhere for all the products and buying from known retailers just wasn't going to happen as they overcharge so much. So I went to a little dealership in Lakeside and managed to get all of it pretty cheap. For everything it was £350 but obviously I had extra wires and power sockets etc. So probably spent about £400 overall but 3or 4 parties and the money is made back so not too bad.

That's pretty much all I have, I still have to invest in many things, lights are one and may even get a smoke machine which will be cool. I also have my laptop and iPod obviously which lets me get on Twitter to here all your requests but other than that nothing else. So that's my basic set up. I'll probably be posting in a few days don't know what about yet, maybe the music that I play but will only be a short one so yeah check back in a few days.
